Dear Edgewood Elementary Wolfie Families,
As we prepare to kick off the 2025-2026 school year, I am filled with excitement and gratitude as I begin my first year as the principal of Edgewood Elementary School. For the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as the assistant principal. As a “home-grown” alumni of Whiteville City Schools I am honored to now step into this new role with a deep love for our school, students and community.
A new year brings a fresh start, and with that comes endless possibilities for our students, staff, and families. At Edgewood, our goal is simple: to create a safe, welcoming environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued. My message to every student walking through our doors this year is :”just be you because you are good enough”! There is power in authenticity, and we want each child to know that who they are is more than enough.
At Edgewood we are proud to offer many after school opportunities for students. Some of these include Junior FFA, Chorus, Girls on the Run, 21st Century Learning Opportunities, and much more! Make sure you connect with us on Facebook and be on the lookout for a DOJO invite to our school. This is the best way to stay informed throughout the school year so that your student does not miss out on any great opportunities.
This year, we are placing a strong focus on reflection and growth—not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. We will encourage students to take ownership of their learning, reflect on their progress, and strive to grow into their best selves every day. Mistakes will be treated as opportunities to learn, and every success will be celebrated, big or small.
I am looking forward to building strong, meaningful relationships with our students, families, and community members. Edgewood thrives because of the incredible support and collaboration we share, and I am committed to continuing that partnership as we move forward together.
Let’s make this school year one of collaboration, joy, growth, and discovery. Here’s to an amazing year ahead!
With appreciation,
Brittany Ward
